STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • top level of athleticism. Good body frame to fill out. Stands out physically much beyond his age group
  • good rim runner who can play in transition
  • good strength. Able to play both forward positions. Ready for professional level from a physical standpoint at the age of 16
  • great leaper of one and two feet. Good target for alley oops
  • hard to stop when attacking closeouts. Can raise up for the contested dunk off the dribble
  • tremendous defensive potential. Very mobile with quick and long strides. Denies the ball thanks to his reach. Some details are still yet to improve – doesn’t always have a proper defensive stance and reacts to pump fakes  
  • very good rebounder. Grabs the ball from way over the rim
  • doesn’t calculate. Goes hard every time either for rebound or dunk
  • footwork is not there yet when creating mid range shoots or short hooks in the paint. Some attempts are taken off balance
  • court awareness is below his abilities. Slow decision making process and lack of focus at times. A bit turnover prone

OUTLOOK
Doumbouya who was born in Guinea is considered the best prospect in Europe in his age category. He had an absolutely breakout performance at FIBA U18 Championships shortly after receiving French passport in 2016. He already shows good level of productivity in French Pro B and is lottery candidate if he plays to his potential.
