FIBA U18 Europe: Storylines
DAVID BOHM Good ball skills for a player his size. Opportunistic scorer but good feel for the game. Can drive and pull up, best as face up 4 it seems. Average length and athleticism. Montverde bound, it doesn’t always go smooth for good Euro talents in elite American preps…

Valencia #AdidasNGT: Best prospects from each team
David Bohm (01’) after a great individual start in the lost game against Barca with 29 points, 5 threes and 5 rebounds was really slowed down in the second game by Valencia. Constantly cut off from the ball, had to really work to get into position and the tiredness could be seen from the morning game. Has a natural touch as a shooter that can’t be seen by looking at his poor 3FG (11/40, 27.5%) where most of his shots were tightly contested, has an ability to beat the defender off the dribble with fluid moves and finish inside or play occasionally with back to the basket. Needs to take a better control of the ball as he averaged 4.3 TO’s a game, some of them being risky passes and some lost control under tight defense. Averaged 19pts, 5.5reb, 1.8ast, 2.5stl, 4.3to’s, 0.8blk.

Evaluation 1999-2001

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • perfect size for position – 6’8 guard/forward
  • confident in transition – not affraid to go all the way to the rim
  • has some mastered go-to moves – spin move and simple right to left crossover
  • good handles – guys with his size rarely play that much with the ball at this age
  • plays intensively with attacking mode on
  • good feel and IQ
  • shooting potential
  • has considerable upside given his age, tools
  • average court vision – keeps head a bit down during penetrations
  • frame is not very wide but at least decent arms length
  • poor lateral coordination
  • strength in upper body – contact really bothers his balance
  • underwhelming athlete
OUTLOOK
David parents come from ex-Yugoslavia region where his father played basketball on semi-professional level. He needs to work on his athleticism and PG qualities. Being able to play this position with his size and added strength could give him career opportunity on the high level. Being part of USK youth teams work very good for his development as he can join older age groups and participate in intgernational tournaments but Bohm definitely has the potential to play for the better senior team.
