ANRIJS MISKA (6’9, Latvia)

One of the Top 2000 born Latvian prospects decided to go back to his country on loan this season. We can say he followed Rinalds Malmanis way and this decision turned out to be very prosperous. Miska already had a lot of good games with Valmiera pro team where he scored in double digits multiple times. He looked like a different player. Stepped up mentally and played with toughness which at times was even borderline fair. There is also slight improvement in his body. He may not have imposing frame but it seems like he works a lot on strength & conditioning in general. Played both 4-5 positions but makes effort to take his game more and more outside which is promising regarding his average length for Center. Shooting is still not overly consistent but he can definitely go back to Spain better and more ready to contribute.

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • has craftiness and maneuvers to compensate for lack of great length.
  • very good touch. Quick and well coordinated non dunk finisher around the rim. Can use either hand effectively
  • has a bit narrow feet set but mid range shot looks promising. Steps out for occassional three pointers
  • sets solid screens. Rolls after picks looking to finish. Knows all the spacing rules in half court as well. Easy to find for an easy assist
  • instinctive rebounder who boxes out opponents pretty well
  • smart player. Makes really good decisions on the fly
  • average size and wingspan for pro PF
  • not so muscular frame. Mobile with decent fluidity but lacks explosiveness
  • not really able to put the ball down on the floor for more than one dribble perimeter drive. Offensive production comes mostly from the paint and catch and shoot
  • limited foot speed – gives a lot of room for opponents defensively. Intelligent, can stop players with similar physicality but switching or facing freakish athletes on his position may cause some troubles
OUTLOOK
During the summer of 2016 Anrijs signed five year deal with Fuenlabrada after spending one year with Real Madrid. He has really polished repertoire of finishing moves for a front court player at his age. His lack of athleticism, great length or exceptional shooting skills scratch him from being potential NBA draft prospects list but IQ is definitely there. Potentially Miska can become notable facilitator on the high European level.
