Good camp for Gruenloh too. Sometimes it was obvious that he lacks the strength in the upper body to compete better against players that are more physical but otherwise he did well. His hands were good and he caught most of the passes that went to him. The majority of his points came at the rim (out of PnRs or in transition) but against Eurocamp 1 team he showed that he can make shots from deep too – still needs to work on his shooting but there is hope that he can be a solid stretcher. At ANGT Patras he controlled the paint and blocked all the shots at the rim but here in Treviso he was not making such a big impact as rim protector and was quite reserved in that area. Showed solid rebounding effort and instincts.

Grünloh may not have been as dominant as he was at the ANGT Patras, but still showed why he is widely considered to be the most promising German big man in the 2005 generation. Time and time again, his towering wingspan, positioning and instincts as the primary rim protector shined through and put Grünloh in a position to either come up with a deflection or entirely deterred opponents from even attempting shots near the basket. On the offensive end, he took advantage of the attention that he drew with timely kickout passes, especially out of the short roll. Occasionally, Günloh had some issues to establish a favorable position around the basket and could have been more resolute as a play finisher. However, he flashed his solid touch and could provide decent floor spacing once he has a cleaner and more consistent energy transfer. As Vechta’s first and second team got promoted to the BBL and Pro A respectively, Grünloh will be in an ideal position to receive notable minutes at different levels with varying responsibilities going forward.

The German 17-year-old big showed a strong performance over the tournament and presented as already suspected an outstanding overall package. Besides his ability to be versatile in the post, the Vechta player also showed his improved shot a few times, especially from mid-range. In addition, of course, came the already mentioned strong defensive assets. Although he sent more than 6 shots per game of the opponent back to the sender, he could also regularly keep up with small fast guards in vertical movements. Grünloh also knew how to set the scene for his teammates. Whether with weakside skip passes from the post or seals in the zone to enable drives for his teammates. His best game was in the game for fifth place, which his team Rasta Vechta won narrowly against Orange1 Bassano: 20pts (7/12 2FG, 7/11FT), 18rebs, 3ass, 8blcks, 11 fouls forced.

What he apparently still lacks is explosiveness and likewise athleticism. In the past few years, Grünloh has gained over 30 kg in muscle size and thus probably lost some of the two aforementioned qualities. Nevertheless, he is not to be neglected in the 2005 age group in Germany and also Europe.
