Since we launched our service starting from 1999 generation and below, ranking of 2000 class is the last one that needs update after summer. It took a bit more time as following all the player simultaneously was harder because there was not European Championship for this age group. Here’s the rundown on notable changes:

Arrivals:

Mikael Jantunen – one of the standouts of U18s in Bratislava and possibly next great Finnish player out of HBA Marsky youth system. Posses tremendous size and versitality combination.

Deividas Sirvydis – Lietuvos Rytas talent was named the best prospect born in 2000 according to all respected youth coaches in Lithuania. This generation is really loaded and more eyes were so far on Balciunas or even Vilys but it should be the other way round next season(s).

Ignacio Arroyo – Chilean finesse playmaker who spent last season in San Diego Catholic HS in Utah just led his country to U17 South American Championship. During the tournament in Lima he averaged 16 points and 6.6 rebounds & assists per game. Really exciting get for Estudiantes Madrid. With better athleticism he could possibly be on the level of best PGs in this class.

Adam Somogyi – lefty and skiller Hungarian PG was solid leader for Hungarian team at 18 Division B in Tallinn. Moreover I have sympathy for him as he reminds Lukasz Kolanda (Top Polish 1999 born prospect) a lot from physical profile and playing style. Currently moved from Real Betis to Torrelodones.

Marco Hollersbacher –  Underaged forward was integral part of Germany’s U18 national team past summer. While 2000 generation is not as loaded as previous and next, Marco is one of the brightest talents with very good pro potential.

Mathias Dosou – Yovo – notable progress by French prospect. Not overly skilled offensively but shows flashes of mid range game. Moreover really strong and hard working.

Notable promotions:

Dovydas Giedraitis – great scorer who chose Estudiantes over other numerous offers. He adapted to the new environment really quickly and posts very good numbers in warm up games.  Will make exciting backcourt duo with another newcomer – Ignacio Arroyo.

Jonas Mattisseck – Berlin native is a two way guard with unyielding nature. He was Germany’s best player next to Philip Herkenhoeff at U18s where he converted excellent 57.1 % from behind the arc on 28 attempts. Moreover he had solid showing in Israel at Basketball Without Borders camp.

Mate Fazekas – Hungarian center from ULM is now nearly 7-footer with notably improved body who moreover shows flashes of long distance shooting. Definitely one of the best bigs from this generation, only behind clear-cut NBA talents.

Omar Dieng – Excellent shooter who went back to Italy after somewhat disappointing year in Barcelona. Omar was very good at BWB camp and can become great player if remains solely focused on basketball. Let’s hope Verona will be a good place for his development.

Vrenz Bleijenbergh – fantastic shooting and size combination. Good skillset and knows how to play. Just need more time than peers to mature physically…

Joel Parra – already having notable playing time with Badalona seniors. Even started one Basketball CL qualifiers game. With improved face up game Parra can become next big player raised in Joventut.

Yavuz Gultekin –  after departure to US to John Carroll HS he is really making a name for himself on another continent. His recruiting is really speeding up and he can end up as Top 60 recruit soon.

Mert Akay – used to be back up for Eray Akyuz in 20000 age group, will likely surpass his position very soon. Arguably future Turkish national team PG.

Biram Faye – was named the MVP of African Basketball Without Borders camp. Puts ridiculous numbers for Gran Canaria recently.

Rokas Jokubaitis – Lithuanian PG will now officially play for Zalgiris. He was a vital part of Lithuanian U19, running the team composed from 2 years older players during the absence of Arnas Velicka.

Regress:

Szymon Janczak – Polish 6’10 Forward who emerged at the U16 tournaments last season didn’t make much progress ever since. Suffers some minor injuries, still a bit soft in his approach. Also his jumper doesn’t fall recently and becomes a myth.

Anrijs Miska – once close to sign with Real Madrid Latvian frontcourt prospect didn’t make it big in Fuenlabrada. Hopefully he can speed up his development after come back to Valmiera, Latvia.
