STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • has elite size for wing already standing at 6’9 and very likely to grow
  • notable fluidity for a player with his size
  • uncommon skillset for a 6’9 junior player. Has really promising face up game. Can even ocassionaly create shots off the bounce and be pick & roll man.
  • above average ball handling and feel for the game
  • length gives him rebounding advantage on his position. Good also at grabbing offensive boards and making put backs
  • not bad court vision. Uses his unfair passing lanes against much smaller defenders
  • has long strides. Active and present in transition
  • quite good player off the ball. Can make himself available using screens. Knows where and when to move behind the arc to be opened
  • has some strides to make to become reliable spot up shooter. Release is a bit slow
  • not an disadvantage long term but it may take a bit more time to fully mature. Become stronger and more explosive
  • tremendous upside is definitely there but needs to refine all of his skills to reach full potential. A lot of more skilled peers are around for now
  • not comfortable finishing with his left
  • relies on his stroke heavily. Could be more willing to attack close outs
  • considerable defensive potential but has lateral coordination problems. Easy to backdown by strong frontcourt players
OUTLOOK
Santiago’s same name father was 7 foot center who played all over the Spain and participated in 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona. Younger Aldama is very likely to top this size also considering his mother is a sister of 6’11 long time ACB player Santi Toledo. While having tremendous genes and size, product of Canterbury International Basketball Academy possess typical wing skillset. It won’t be any surprise if in 2 years he will emerge as one of the top players in this generation from entire Europe.
