Zaccharie Risacher (F | 203 cm | ’05) ~ JL Bourg, France

Zaccharie Risacher went into the tournament as one of the best prospects that will play in the competition but in the end he did not meet the expectations. His performances at the tournament were poor and the expectations were much higher. In the both matches combined against Spain he managed to score just 2 points in the 47 minutes on shooting 1 out of 7 from the field. He even went scoreless in the final match at that should not happen to a prospect of his caliber. Truthfully, he did not have the ideal role in the team and could not shine in the brightest lights but he can offer much more than he showed at this tournament. Not everything was negative though and he had some positive moments in offense, especially as a spot up shooter. His mechanics are smooth as silk and he knocked down the open jumpers. Was handling the ball a few times and creating out of pick & rolls and he did a solid job at that too. The defensive effort was good and he proved that he could be a positive wing or team defender that knows how to use his hands and how to slide his feet. The talent is there, he has the tools too but it looks like he fits more in the “role player” than “leader” mold and he is not showing the character to take the ball and “be the man of the moment.”

Zaccharie Risacher (F | 204 cm | ‘05) ~ Asvel

14.3 pts, FG2-41.2%, FG3-42.9%, FT-73.3%, 5.0 reb, 1.7 ast, 1.0 st, 2.0 to, 2.0 blck

The third high level prospect in Asvel’s team and one of the best long term prospects at this final tournament in Belgrade. It is obvious that basketball is in his blood and the game just naturally comes to him. He isn’t as athletic as Malwaya or Houinsou but due to his feel and instincts he can compete with better athletes and grab rebounds over them. If he struggled with shots from deep in the qualifying tournament, he has shown this time that he is a good shooter and that there shouldn’t be any problems with his shooting numbers throughout his career. Has space for more muscle on his frame and room for growth in many areas of his game but overall a very intriguing prospect due to his long term upside and elite feel for the game.

Recap: AdidasNGT in Belgrade

Zaccharie Risacher (F | 200 cm | ‘05) ~ Asvel

11.7 pts, FG2-48.3%, FG3-8.3%, FT-100.0%, 7.0 reb, 2.7 ass, 2.3 st, 1.3 to, 1.0 blck

Unfortunately missed the final game because of an injury but he managed to show some of his talents in the first three matches so scouts weren’t empty handed when it came to evaluating his game. He was struggling with his shot for three and was 1 for 12 at the tournament even though he is usually a good shooter. I don’t think there is a lot wrong with his release but just the shots weren’t falling in. His court awareness and basketball IQ are really high and all his off ball movements made sense and had a reason. He is versatile and can fit in many roles in any system and just get the job done on both ends. A modern versatile two-way forward that can find a place in most teams at the highest level.

Recap: FIBA U16 Challengers

Zaccharie Risacher (SF | 202 cm | ‘05) ~ France

10.2 pts, 2FG-59.1%, 3FG-28.6%, FT-68.4%, 6.8 rebs, 1.6 ast, 3.4 stl, 1.4 to, 1.0 blks

France was maybe the team with the most talent in their roster and Risacher was definitely one of them. Good penetrator, with his handles and fluidity can go past defenders and usually doesn’t shy away from contact at the rim which is a good habit especially in youth competitions. His shot release looks fine for his age too and should become a good shooter over the years. Uses his skills and tools in transition very well and this could be a big strength of him in the future. Active hands in defense and uses every inch of his long arms very well when going for steals or when contesting shots around the rim. High potential as a two-way wing.
