STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • extremely quick and smooth in the open court with dynamite first step. Almost impossible to keep in front while given space
  • has some shiftiness with the ball. Not limited to accelerating and straight line penetrations. Can shake his defender
  • gets creative while driving to the rim. Displays good pass fakes, has above average lay ups repertoire
  • moves a lot off the ball. Cuts hard to the rim, scores occasional easy buckets
  • good on ball defender on his position. Lateral quickness catches up with his overall speed. Displays good effort. Tries to contest and interrupt passing lanes with his active hands
  • aware of his strengths. Attacks aggressively not only to score but also to create space for others. Makes effort to create advantage in transition, runs back quickly to defense
  • drives mostly to the left side. Can get predictable at times
  • just ok frame and overall physical profile. Doesn’t stand out in this regard beside his explosiveness
  • not bad but a bit slow release. Creating shots off the dribble is a work in progress

OUTLOOK
Umrikhin was not widely recognized in Europe before 2016/2017 season and good showing that he had with CSKA Moscow during Adidas Next Generation ournaments. The lighting quick Point Guard can cause a lot of damage and never misses a chance to show his fantastic attribute. He needs to work hard mostly on playmaking skills and court awareness to become more multi dimensional player.
