STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • adequate height for backcourt player
  • excellent stroke. Has an ability to get the shot off with little space. Very good follow through and consistency. Can make shots with defender’s hand in his face
  • elite shot creator off the dribble. Also in pick and roll situations
  • can use screens and find open spots off the ball in general
  • very good and low handles in both hands. Can protect the ball
  • capable of making plays in isolations. Displays nice crossover moves to lose his defender
  • displays nice overall feel for the game – a real pleasure for the eyes. Reads the game offensively by the highest standards
  • has developed great touch on the runners over the help
  • gets lost on screens a lot but plays with effort defensively. Defends with good, low stance. Makes effort to contest
  • has upside as a passer and can ultimately become combo guard with decent playmaking skills but for now assist numbers are disappointing for someone playing that much with the ball
  • stops dribble unnecessarily at times
  • has worrying tendency to overdribble
  • not very comfortable playing through contact. Doesn’t draw many fouls
  • not overly explosive. Rarely able to get all the way to the rim
  • like most of the young shooters can have a day off and throw bricks
OUTLOOK
Finesse Latvian guard has a lot of wiggle to his game and can really shoot the lights out. It is hard not to like Roberts game as his skillset is combined with poise and scorer mentality. Beside bucket getting he shows upside also in other aspects. With improved athleticism and finding a bit more balance in his game Berzins can really achieve a lot in European basketball.
