A rollercoaster tournament for Baba Miller but I would give him a positive grade overall. He had some impressive moments when he was able to showcase his great tools and his talent and I believe he improved during the season even though he has not played much at Florida State. He was great at putting the ball to the floor and attacking closeouts with drives. With his long strides, good body balance, footwork and mobility he usually had no problems of getting to the rim and defenders had a hard time to stop him. He was also very efficient in his finishes at the rim and threw down some powerful dunks. Shooting mechanics look good but the percentages weren’t that good and there are some reserves for the future. The tools and his talent is obvious immediately when you see him and it is just a question of time when everything aligns and clicks. If he manages to have a good sophomore season, he can quickly be back in the first round considerations for the next draft.

After a not so good tournament in Ljubljana, this final tournament was even worse for Baba Miller. His talent is obvious and he has the tools but his body language and energy level look really bad. He was again playing without any fire in his eyes and it looked like he didn’t care about winning and if he doesn’t show improvements in the non-basketball areas, then he will never reach his full potential. He has the basketball skills and talent but it looks like his character will be the deal breaker between a NBA career or a fringe ACB career.

One of the players with the highest upside in Ljubljana but he didn’t show his best performances, especially in his last two games What irritated me the most was his low energy and bad body language when he just didn’t look motivated enough and wasn’t looking for the ball in offense at all. But when he got the ball he could show what makes him so intriguing. The shots weren’t falling in but his shooting motion is smooth and fluid and can convert shots from deep range. With his long strides and good footwork he was also able to get open on semi-open looks in the paint when he was driving or attacking from post ups. I also missed more transition plays from him at this tournament since he can be really hard to stop on open court but there weren’t many transition plays from him at this tournament. Used his tools well in defense too but again lacked a little more effort and energy. His potential is scary high but if he won’t bring the effort to the floor every game, it will be hard for him to reach his full potential.

Papa Bartolome Miller (F | 208 cm | ‘04) ~ Spain

Miller amazes me with his length and mobility. Really agile for a player his size and moves fluidly in transition. Of course, he still needs to bulk up so that he will be able to compete with the physicality on the pro level. In this tournament he showed some solid touch at the rim and also from distance. With his long strides he has not many problems getting to the rim but still more dangerous on open court than in half court sets. He can do a lot of good stuff in defense too and covers much ground and uses his length wisely. Still pretty raw as a prospect and I’m not sure if he can become a player that will take the scoring burden on his shoulders and carry the team in offense but he has the tools to become a great player at the highest level.
