STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • solid athlete by european standards. Can play above the rim in space
  • nice physical profile at 6-6 with solid length for his size
  • strong frame, 190lbs now
  • really versatile. Can shoot it a bit, attack the basket and make plays for his teammates. Can play 3 positions on the court. Also effective off the ball. Active cutter. 6+rebounds per-40
  • nice potential as a shooter, fairly consistent in space. Good elevation and follow through. High arc. Has some touch
  • knows how to play the game. Plays an unselfish brand. Excellent timing in pick and roll situations. Lets the game come to him
  • capable defender. Solid intensity level on the court. Plays the passing lanes
  • has been very well coached. Calm demeanour
  • 83% from the free throw line last season (16-20)
  • not a great athlete. Doesn‘t play above the rim in traffic. Lacks a strong first step
  • doesn‘t finish well through contact. Can struggle against length/pressure
  • does not project as a lockdown defender at the pro level. Solid motor but not overly athletic/quick
  • not a high level scorer in isolation situations. Will struggle to take over games on his own
  • not very consistent as a shooter. 31.5% (28-89) in the NBBL. At his best as a corner spot up shooter. Not great off the dribble
OUTLOOK
Matthew Meredith is a really solid player with nice versatility, especially on the offensive end. He may lack a degree of upside but has all the tools to play basketball for a living. Already quite experienced for his age, he has played at the U16 European Championship and for Nürnberg in the 2nd German divison (ProA). He‘ll definitely remain a name in the FIBA Youth circuit.
