Laurynas Vaistaras

Height: 197cm – 6’6’’
Born: 17.01.2001
Nationality: Lithuania
Position: Forward
Current team: Zalgiris

RANK:Of 2001 Generation

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • quite nice frame to fill out and ok athleticism especially explosiveness
  • has significant potential to become point forward given his court vision and passing ability
  • good rebounder. Has a nose and quickness to chase the balls outside of his area
  • ticks a lot of boxes on the court. Plays with heart and effort of typical role player
  • good help defender who does a good job contesting the shoots. Quick to recover – doesn’t give up and chases for the block from behind
  • plays with great energy flying up and down the court. Able to grab & go, looks for the opportunities in transition
  • very left hand heavy. Penetrates almost exclusively on this side. Also not a comfortable ball handler with his right
  • not big deal at all but has some minor flaws in his shooting mechanics. Not overly quick form as he gets very low before taking the jumper. A bit more efficient as a mid range shooter for now
  • lacks scoring aggressiveness while attacking from outside. Makes unnecessary extra passes at times instead of going all the way to the rim
  • good not great defender at the moment. Leaves too much space in isolations. Needs at least 1-2 more inches to check PF position as a pro
  • disappointing progress over the years
OUTLOOK
Laurynas is a very valuable player who can be useful without running set plays on him as he possess some of glue-guy intangibles. Vaistaras may not be extremely skilled but can possibly become threat as a spot up shooter, has passing skills and ability to attack in transition. Moreover his defensive potential seems to be intriguing too. Needs to improve right hand and offensive contribution to have a good career.
