Kresimir Nikic

Height: 215cm – 7’1’’
Born: 16.04.1999
Nationality: Croatia
Position: Big
Current team: Alba Berlin

RANK:Of 1999 Generation

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • extremely tall. Well-coordinated for his height
  • effective around the rim on both ends of the court. Promising rim protector. Finishes over both shoulders. Exceptional touch from mid-range distances
  • mastered baseline spin move from the low post. Displays very good footwork and shot fakes
  • can shoot from midrange but may need to improve the consistency slightly.
  • smart player. Understands spacing. Skilled in general
  • tries to score right away when he gets the ball on the move. Quick hands for a big man
  • loves to face up. Can attack to the rim after one dribble. Long and surprisingly quick first step
  • very effective passer for a big man. Capable of dishing on the move as well
  • very lanky. Must improve strength badly in whole body. Seems to be affraid of contact from time to time
  • physical competition can really limit his productivity. Not able to get inside and fully use his height
  • gets push around, loses balance and falls down very often. Adequatly mobile for a player his size but slow. Limited utility in transition
  • grabs the rebounds and blocks the shots only in his area. Should be able to cover more ground with his measurements
  • jumps to shot fakes a lot. Why would you do that with his reach? Loses focus during the games sometimes
  • pick and roll defense is very far from being perfect
OUTLOOK
Nikic is a native of Zagreb and has won national titles with Cibona at U14, U16 and U18 stages. He is a really creative player on the low-post and perimeter but the injuries that keeps happening are blocking his development. His country is filled with the prospects on the same position but he can make a name for himself among them and appear on the NBA radar if he improves body strength.
