STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • good body frame. Most likely will out nicely over the years
  • shows relatively good mobility and even quickness for a player his size
  • very efficient scorer on rolls to the rim. Great fit for p & r heavy offense
  • intelligent and consistent on & off the ball screener
  • good touch and hands. Plays on high field goal percentage
  • moves off the ball wisely. Finds open spaces to cut into for easy basket
  • decent scoring instincts in the paint. Aware of defender position, can put him in the air or avoid the block
  • keeps composure on the court
  • upside is dependent on future growing to a large degree
  • too much of inside player skillset regarding his current height. Needs to make strides to take his game at least to the mid range
  • not fundamentally sound release
  • below the rim guy. Just ok rebounder. Not proficient against taller or more physical players
  • fairly good footwork but doesn’t have great deal of moves in his low post repertoire
  • good effort but doesn’t cover much ground defensively
OUTLOOK
Jekabs was born to German father and Latvian mother. Previously he played for National youth teams of Germany but switched to Latvia at U16 stage. He doesn’t have overwhelming tools but intangibles and big man fundamentals are there. He is very easy to cooperate with good point guard. Beks had successful seasons in Crailsheim which brought attention from Top academies in the country. He needs to broaden his offensive repertoire.
