Jakov Kukic

Height: 208cm – 6’10’’
Born: 20.07.2000
Nationality: Croatia
Position: Big
Current team: UCSB

RANK:Of 2000 Generation

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • solid frame. Should be able to fill out nicely with time
  • showing great progress as he has been playing summer of 2014. Habits and IQ are improved almost game by game
  • very mobile, well coordinated for his size. Also has a decent conditioning
  • promising offensive rebounder who can box out on protecting glass effectively as well
  • shows flashes of being decent finisher. Really good hands
  • keeps adding range to his shoot and hitting long perimeter jumpers should be in his offensive arsenal quickly
  • very intriguing defensive potential – can really stop pick and roll ball handler and go back quickly to the rolling big man. Able to pick up smaller guards and defend them in space
  • body in early development – seems to still growing. Has troubles against more bulky centers on the low block
  • tends to come too close to the opponents when defending the closeout which end up as a foul usually
  • could keep better spacing – rolls well after picks but struggles to find lanes for a clean cuts in half court offense
  • below average screener at this point – doesn’t cover a lot of ground, average positioning
  • not able to provide much offensively at this point among strong U18 competition especially  outside the paint. Interesting thanks to mobility and upside
OUTLOOK
Kukic is a player who runs the court very well and is gifted with tremendous agility which he can utilize on the defensive end. Moreover he learns quickly and keeps extending his offensive skillset. If Jakov is able to continue to progress at this pace and improve understanding of the game he can make it very forward in his career. There is a big need on the market for PFs with great energy who are not raw offensively and possess an ability to guard almost every player on the court.
