Babacar Fam

Height: 204cm – 6’8’’
Born: 01.02.2000
Nationality: Senegal
Position: Forward
Current team: Asvel

RANK:Of 2000 Generation

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • lean bodied, very good: wingspan, quickness and stamina
  • extremely intensive worker on the defensive end – great lateral quickness, can really lower his hips and bother passing lanes with his length
  • multi positional defender –  fronting ability while defending low post is also worth noticing – good agility allows him to get proper defensive stance and recover quickly to box out
  • very good leaper who is light on his feet and canfinish a play quickly
  • constantly in motion – relentless slasher who never miss fastbrakes
  • suprisingly good low post executor as he is much better at this than anyting else – really nice foot work and pump fakes
  • aware of limitations – doesn’t force his plays
  • raw offensively – slow release, not a threat as a shooter even with plenty of space on the perimeter
  • weight is below standards – needs to build more muscle mass as his upper body has less strength than legs
  • relies too heavily on his left hand – even under the rim doesn’t feel comfortable with right hand
  • basketball IQ is a work in progress. Makes very slow decisions
OUTLOOK
Babacar is different than other players of African descent who play in Spain as he is slightly undermature regarding his age group. He shows flashes and promise of being very valuable player. He transfered to Gran Canaria from Real Madrid youth teams. Needs to work on every aspect of his offensive repertoire and bulk up a bit. Also his english is very bad at the moment.
