Preview of Draft Prospects in Euroleague and Eurocup
Another young wing from Efes team is YiÄŸitcan Saybir. Saybir was the MVP of the first evet BGL Final-Four last year, dominating the glass and slashing inside with much improved motor and involvement. Lefty with great wingspan, he still needs to get stronger in order to cope with experience players in Euroleague. It is very hard to see him play much in the competition due to as he has 3 guys in front of him in the rotation.

Sleepers of 1999 Generation
YAGITCAN SAYBIR (6’7, Forward, Anadolu Efes)

Turkish prospect was not a player with high popularity until the last two years. In loaded Anadolu Efes youth rosters, behind the ones like Onuralp Bitim, Muhaymin Mustafa, Saybir was a little under the radar beyond these players. He started to step up while Onuralp Bitim was in US, and showed premises of what he can do then and in the future. His constant good effort in the last U18 European Championship, Saybir was a vital part of the team that reached as far as the semi-final. 6’7 player can play both forward position and has the quickness to be able to play as small forward in senior team competition. As a lefty, his improved outside shooting dramatically increased his stock in the last couple of years. Was not a big part of U17 World Championship silver medal finish but he came to Slovakia as a much better player with more responsibility. His mental attributes are also impressed many as he plays with lot of energy and effort in every available circumstance.

  • can get high percentage looks when attacking the rim, ferocious penetrator
  • can use his both hands very well, comfortable in handling the ball and finishing around the rim
  • can find easy points due to his off-ball movement, understands the offensive possessions well
  • legit athlete with above the rim athleticism

  • displays improved outside shooting, good mechanics for a lefty
  • long arms helps him intercepting loose balls and passes on defense
  • needs to gets stronger to make more under the rim plays
  • his shot gets inconsistent at times
  • gets into tunnel vision while driving often, needs to be a better passer
  • good perimeter defender but struggles underneath
OUTLOOK
Saybir has shown impressive improvement in the last two season in arguably every aspect of his game. He was considered as a low rated prospect a while ago but he built on an average performance in U17 WC this summer averaging 16.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 1.3 APG in Slovakia. Has a sense of leadership in him, has always been a good team-mate. Humble and hard- working Saybir plays more as strech 4 but its possible to see him play small forward in the pro level without any problem.
