SZYMON & JAN WOJCIK (6’9, Forwards, Elan Chalon)

Together as they have never really played separately even in youth national teams. Twin sons of arguably the best Polish player ever (even counting Marcin Gortat). Born relatively late in 1999 and gifted with tremendous physical profiles. However they can play complementary roles and mix both forward positions. Raised in quite comfortable settings where they had time to work individually on their all around game which pays off now. Currently adjusting to the highly competitive and athletic competition in France at Elan Chalon program which raised some NBA players last years – Clint Capela and Thabo Sefolosha. After their father, biggest fan and mentor is gone they can either lose focus on basketball or commit to hard work and make it big in tribute to him. Also it is intriguing how will they cope without each other as it is nearly impossible to play in the same teams during entire career.

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • perfect physical characteristics for a Forward. Posses tremendous size and frame
  • has genetic advantage. Son of elite athlete who had great sport longevity and looked extremely well shaped even when battling incurable disease
  • even though he has always been one of the tallest players in the team, coaches took care of developing his face up game and all around skillset
  • displays solid toughness. Willing to do little things on the court that are very important for the team. Rare ability for someone raised in the very comfortable setting
  • great athlete, can really chase put backs and dunk it
  • combo forward. May be more suitable as a 3 man but definitely he is not the player who stucks between positions
  • has better motor than brother
  • can play with and off the ball. Shows good feel for cutting and excellent slashing potential. Still not fully utilized tho as he gets tunnel vision at times
  • nowhere near physical peak. Matures slowly but consistently over the years. Unbelievable upside
  • has been always playing with his brother. Can they play together for the entire career? Or how quickly can he adapt in new environment without family members?
  • improved but still not good enough shooter. Less confident in his skills comparing to brother
  • much more of the introvert from two of them
  • still has some problems with lateral speed and checking smaller, quicker players
OUTLOOK
Jan has always been more of a glue guy from one from the Wojcik twin brothers but it doesn’t really mean that he has smaller potential. After playing in the best youth team in Poland and then in academy created more than less for the purpose of maximizing their potential, talented forwards took their talents to Chalon in France. Family choose the program that some notable NBA players were raised in over many Top teams in Germany, Italy and Spain. After father’s death they can either lose their focus on basketball as their biggest mentor is gone or fully commit to it in tribute to his memory. If second option happens then it won’t be a shocking after they end up on the highest level possible.
