VIKTOR LAKHIN (6’10, 2001, FORWARD, CSKA MOSCOW) – Russian youngster made a visible strides to become legitimate shooter. He previously showed promise of stretching the court but form looked definitely more repeatable and he took more attempts thanks to this reliability. Moreover Lakhin is light on his feet, runs the floor really well and has exceptional timing for blocking the shots. On the downside he still lacks strength badly and possess somewhat narrow shoulders which doesn’t indicate room for great physical progress. Face up assets beside shooting are still work in progress.

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • already achieved adequate size for front court player
  • rebounds at a decent rate. Very opportunistic chasing the put backs. Chase the ball in crowd outside of his area
  • very mobile. Can get up and down in transition. Long strides. Solid leaper in space
  • willing passer. Can make extra dish or share it high-low
  • easy to picture him becoming good shooter. Already make threes given time and space with promising mechanics
  • competitiveness. Not affraid of contact. Plays hard
  • plays with good effort and intensity and can be highly effective in small amount of minutes
  • nice sense of timing as a weak side shot blocker
  • still needs to work a lot on lateral movements but willing to check guards. Covers a lot of ground on defensive end and contest shots
  • has room to grow but still very lanky in upper and lower body
  • may stuck a little between 4 and 5 position. Doesn’t have a tools to battle much inside for now neither polished skillset enough to play more outside of the basket
  • hasn’t polished touch in his hands yet. Could raise ability to make and 1 plays. Not comfortable with left at all
  • adding some simple driving ability to his shooting could become big asset
  • still turnover prone. Lacks high standard decision making
OUTLOOK
Lakhin possess very intriguing upside given his tools and uncompromising attitude. Russian talent is likely to end up having all the things that modern basketball call for as a tall and versitale frontcourt player who checks many boxes on both ends. Viktor has an older brother in CSKA program but he is more likely to become long time valuable member of Moscow based powerhouse.
