STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • very smooth athlete. Extremely explosive. Possess nice frame with very long arms
  • almost impossible to keep in front in open court with his quickness
  • possess good body control. Can make a really remarkable full court slalom drives between defenders  
  • very quick handles. Moreover wingspan allows him to keep the ball low to the ground. Comfortable dribbling at his lightning speed. Can really break ankles in future if he makes this ability more tight
  • not fully utilized in this regards but has all the tools to create separation and get off the shoots at will (quickness, good handles and great coordination). Feels pretty confident with the ball, likes to shake defenders
  • has some promising touch on non dunk attempts. Can finish with runner
  • relentless motor. Doesn’t miss a chance in transition. Gets up quickly to run back to the defensive end
  • potentially very impactful on the defensive end. Displays great lateral mobility. Body contains the contact fairly good.  Long but quick hands help to deflect/steal the ball
  • doesn’t have advanced vision in open court. Produces for teammates almost exclusively from penetrations. Lazy passess happens too often
  • not as bouncy as he could be regarding his body and other athletic abilities
  • can overdribble it in half court
  • often shoots the ball with side spin rotation. Not fundamentally sound form in general
  • doesn’t operate at the different speed. No surprise – he just never had do that in order to get to the rim
OUTLOOK
Barra’s parents come from Gambia but he was born in Sweden. He grew up in Stockholm where he played for Fryshuset Basket before following footsteps of his teammates and heading to St. Benedict’s. Njie is a player gifted with fantastic smoothness and athletic potential. If he grows a bit, improves his ball distribution skills and finds way to fully utilize his strengths he can possibly play on Top NCAA level.
