VOLODYMYR MARKOVETSKYY (7’2, 2000, CENTER, ZALGIRIS KAUNAS) – Numbers per 36 may look ok but honestly I was expecting more visible refinement in his game especially in terms of mobility. Ukrainian prospects still gets no elevation, is stiff and reflex & coordination leaves a lot to be desired. On the other hand he gained some pounds on his once skinny frame and is even taller now which can extend the hope to see him moving more fluidly.

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • almost 7 footer with great wingspan and +9’2 standing reach
  • solid lower body. Frame looks developable
  • born in the late december of 2000. Still years away from physical maturation with plenty of room for improvement both physically and mentally
  • rolls to the basket pretty good. Always ready to catch the ball
  • willing screener. Displays some proper habits for a big man
  • shows promising touch also away from the basket
  • still on the light side up top
  • much more mobile than quick. Moves at the one pace. Running form looks a bit stiff
  • doesn’t do good job bending his knees defensively
  • doesn’t have post game
  • not the most instinctive players. Seems to be step too slow with his decision making and reaction speed away from the basket or on the defensive end
OUTLOOK
Volodymyr is a big man with tremendous long term potential. As for now there are many holes in his game but it is commonly known that big man mature later. Markovetskyy has plenty of time to get faster, stronger and smarter on the court. With good treatment he is receiving in Zalgiris academy and without pressure for immediate results he is very likely to step up his game and approach which should make NBA scouts keep an eye on his further development.
