Michael Caicedo (SF | 200 cm | ‘03) ~ Spain

9.4 pts, FG2-63.3%, FG3-36.0%, FT-100.0%, 4.1 reb, 2.9 ast, 1.1 st, 1.4 to, 0.0 blck

The do-it-all player in Spain’s national team. Caicedo is so useful in any team because he can do a lot of the things right and he doesn’t need a bigger role to prove himself. He was doing everything here once again and stepped up when needed. Glued the team together on both ends and played a very important role in offense and defense. Haven’t seen many drives from him in this tournament and would sometimes love to see him being more aggressive because he has the skills and tools to be a plus slasher. Players like him can be valuable for top teams and I can imagine Caicedo playing on the highest level in the future.

Recap: FIBA U20 European Challengers

Michael Caicedo (F | 197 cm | ‘03) ~ Spain

12.2 pts, 2FG-63.2%, 3FG-52.6%, FT-53.8%, 2.8 rebs, 1.8 ast, 1.6 stl, 2.6 to, 0.2 blks

Spain was one of the teams that sent a “mixed” roster with some “experienced” and some younger players. Michael Caicedo was one of the youngest players in the team but also one of the most important ones. An all around wing that can do a lot of the things on the court. With his athleticism he can be dangerous on open court especially after a successful defensive possession when he loves to push or run forward and finish with a dunk. Still a little unpolished in half court sets as a ball handler and slasher. Had very good shooting percentages from distance in the tournament and continues to improve as a spot up shooter. Michael also has all the tools to be a great perimeter defender. Still kinda searching for his best role in offense but overall an interesting player that could find a spot in an NBA team in the future.

Many players were out of the rhythm during tournament because in many countries non professional sports are still put on hold. Michael Caicedo was perfect example of that as he started from shooting bricks in opener vs Ulm but was getting his groove back more ands more every next game which eventually ended up as real statement performance in the local derby final. Barcelona product is a wing with good athleticism and physical profile. He sports very decent frame standing at 6’6, plus length and plays above the rim not only in transition but also excels as half court slasher. Shows really enthusiastic approach, looks eager to make plays on both ends of the court and his energy can be contagious. Still somewhat unpolished, seems to be more of an open court facilitator at this point but averaged decent 3.3 apg thanks to his fast break prowess. Besides even if he doesn’t become reliable decision maker he fits the mold of 3 and D player who can defend, make shots, outrun others for easy bucket and make a straight line drives.

Recap: Ciutat d'Esplugues U15 tournament
Michael Caicedo (#12 – 196cm): Forward who has good physic. Actually, maybe a bit skinny but can still improve it. Good legs make him able to grab rebounds easily and to make some good dunks. Also, he has a proper defensive attitude not just intimidating but also defending outside players. Despite all those things he needs to improve his shooting range and decision-making process.
