Goga Bitadze (Georgia, 1999, 6’11, Center)

Goga had very successful season as he participated in the final game of Adidas Next Generation Tournament and averaged about 10ppg in Mega’s affiliated club (Smedranevo) in Serbian First Division. Bitadze was really dominating under the rim this season but unfortunately almost no one could top his size and strength in his age category. This tournament allowed to evaluate him against equally big and physically mature players. He had ups and downs. Showed his full potential against loaded Croatia but also had terrible foul troubles and revealed poor body language which keeps raising questions about his future. There is no doubts that Bitadze is a serious NBA prospect He has some Nikola Jokic to him regarding not only same team they started making big career but also body type and decent passing & ball handling skills. Moreover Georgian center has really good timing for the blocks, very soft hands to finish a play and excellent shooting motion. Last months he added some extra range and is able to hit three pointers on the regular.

Evaluation 1999-2001

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
  • lost a lot of weight. Improved running mechanics but still has some work to do with his baby fat
  • very good shooting motion. Shots mid range with ease
  • good size for Center with at least acceptable wingspan. Can really dominate lower players. Good timing for blocking the shots
  • good handles for a big man. Can start the offense after grabbing the rebound
  • passing skills and court vision are noticeably good for his position
  • great hands. Soft touch on non dunk attempts
  • good rebounder. Boxes out strong. Sets the right screens
  • have to improve his quickness and keep working on motor coordination to be able to compete with athletic players on his position on the highest level
  • concentration level seems to go down at times
  • body language is not perfect
  • needs to prove himself against the opponents with equal height and tools
  • does a lot of  ball watching on defense. Gets too deep in rotation
  • steps out for 3 pointers but with little success so far
U18 OUTLOOK
Goga moved to Mega Leks after successful FIBA U16 Championships in the summer of 2014. He is a player with huge potential who could be compared to Nikola Jokic either because of similar bodies, team that their talent exploded in and well rounded skillset. His behaviour is not always perfect which raises questions about his future. However if he continues to improve his game and physicality at that pace, he can become serious candidate for NBA Draft.
