Next in line is Mario Nakić, who took a similar route as Sylla. A product of Real Madrid’s youth program will try to get more minutes in Oostende even though he made his debut for Real Madrid in ACB in 2017/18 season and played in 12 matches last year for Real – 9 in ACB and 3 in Euroleague. Looking at the roster, Serbian guard/wing could have a good role in the team as a wing initiator and be one of the main creators in offense. With his all around game he should adapt to the league quickly and be one of the players to watch in this season.
Mario Nakic (01’, 6’7’’, Forward) Has already nicely developed body, with a lot of muscles on his frame. Played from the perimeter with confidence getting inside strongly and playing through contact well. Needs to keep working on his shot, already got a nice shooting form and dropped few off dribble jumpers, but needs to be more reliable. Also needs to take better care off the ball and be more careful with his passes as he averaged – 2.3TO’s in 22mins. Solid on ball defender but makes small mistakes by not looking where his man is and getting lost in the rotation. Averaged 14pts, 5.3rebs, 2.5ast, 0.8stl, 2.3TO’s.
MARIO NAKIC (6’7, Guard/Forward, Real) – Before tournament I wrote that Mario should prove himself as one of the best European prospect from his age group and he couldn’t do it any better than by leading Real to the title and taking Most Valuable Player award. Talented player already stands around 6’7, possess adequate strength and at least ok athleticism. He is opportunistic scorer with great understanding of the game. Excels either in half court and transition thanks to ability to handle the ball at full speed, long strides, body control and some advanced finishing moves. Super efficient player. Uses contact well for his advantage. Can get physical, puts his elbow on defender and then finds unusual way to score over him. Possess much above average pick and roll skills for a wing to create either for himself or teammates which is another desirable asset he provides. I also believe that his outside stroke is much better than the numbers suggests. Overall multidimensional, very skilled player with mature style and good tools. Euroleague prospect is very applicable in this case.

Mario Nakic has already established himself as one of the best prospects of his class. Strong physical presence and basketball IQ but he still needs to go a long way in order to be great in the higher levels. Real Madrid player has a good environment to improve his game, better to keep an eye on his development. |
